Fall. Credits: 3. Physical-chemical-biological concepts and modeling of retention and transport of water and solutes in unsaturated and saturated media. Applications to environmental aspects of soil and groundwater contamination emphasized.

SOS 5245 Water Resource Sustainability   [Instructor: James W. Jawitz]    Syllabus

Spring. Credits: 3. The effects of human impacts on hydrologic ecosystems (aquifers, watersheds, coastal zones, lakes, and wetlands) are described with quantitative measures of impacts and mitigation/attenuation efforts. Case studies from around the world are used to illustrate both the detrimental effects of unsustainable resource utilization and the benefits of implementing sustainable resource management strategies.
